Founded in 1988 in Sausalito by Swedish architect Marielle Rutherford,
Design for Home and Workplace has served clients all over the Bay Area
-- from Marin to Hillsborough, Napa to the Oakland hills -- as well as
Sweden and Monaco. Always mindful of her clients' unique needs and
sensibilities, Marielle designs homes, commercial spaces, interiors,
furniture, even landscapes which subtly merge the casual style of
California living with the clean lines of Scandinavian design. Marielle
creates graceful spaces that are at once stylish, comfortable,
sophisticated, and timeless.
We provide design services from hourly consultation and purchasing through building permit preparation and construction. Our design philosophy is as simple as our design:
